يفخر مهرجان الجونة السينمائي بالإعلان عن تعيين أندرو محسن مديرًا فنيًا للمهرجان، وذلك اعتبارًا من اليوم (2 أبريل/نيسان 2026). يأتي هذا الإعلان في وقت يستعد فيه المهرجان لإطلاق دورته التاسعة، المقرر انعقادها في الفترة من 15 إلى 23 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول 2026، في مدينة الجونة؛ حيث سيتولى محسن قيادة الرؤية الفنية للمهرجان بعد قيادته فريق البرمجة على مدار عامين.
يمثل هذا المنصب امتدادًا طبيعيًا لمسيرة المهرجان، استنادًا إلى الرؤية الفنية التي وضع أسسها المديرون الفنيون السابقون. وفي هذا الصدد، يتقدم مهرجان الجونة السينمائي بخالص الشكر والتقدير للمخرجة والمنتجة ماريان خوري، المديرة الفنية السابقة للمهرجان، على قيادتها للمهرجان خلال السنوات الثلاث الماضية، حيث كان لجهودها دورًا أساسيًا في صياغة التوجه الفني للمهرجان وتعزيز مكانته كمنصة تجمع بين السينما العربية والعالمية.
وبهذه المناسبة، قال عمرو منسي، الشريك المؤسس والمدير التنفيذي لمهرجان الجونة السينمائي: "يسعدني أن أرى أندرو يتولى هذا الدور القيادي. منذ انضمامه إلي فريق عمل المهرجان، أظهر فهمًا عميقًا لهوية المهرجان، وحسًا استثنائيًا في اكتشاف القصص المؤثرة واختيار الأفلام. إن تعيينه مديرًا فنيًا يعكس ثقتنا في رؤيته، والتزامنا بمستقبل السينما المصرية والعالمية."
تتميز رحلة محسن مع مهرجان الجونة بنمو سريع والتزام واضح بالتميز السينمائي، فقد كان تأثيره ملحوظًا منذ انضمامه إلى المهرجان كمبرمج أول في عام 2023، ومن ثم ترقيته إلى رئيس قسم البرمجة في عام 2024 ، ونجاحه في تقديم اختيارات متنوعة ومؤثرة لاقت صدى لدى الجمهور المحلي والدولي على حد سواء.
ومن جانبه قال أندرو محسن، المدير الفني لمهرجان الجونة السينمائي: "تابعت مسيرة مهرجان الجونة السينمائي منذ انطلاقه، أولًا كناقد ثم كأحد العاملين في الصناعة، وكجزء من فريق العمل. واليوم، يشرفني أن أتولى منصب المدير الفني في مرحلة محورية، مع اقتراب المهرجان من الاحتفال بنسخته العاشرة. سيكون هدفي الأساسي هو الحفاظ على نجاح المهرجان وتوسيع نطاقه، بما يضمن استمراره كجسر رئيسي بين السينما العربية والعالمية."
بدأ محسن مسيرته في مجال السينما عام 2015 من خلال الكتابة النقدية، وسرعان ما أثبت نفسه كصوت بارز في مجال النقد السينمائي. انتقل لاحقًا إلى برمجة المهرجانات من خلال مهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي، ليشغل بعدها عدة مناصب بارزة، منها منصب المدير الفني لمهرجان الإسماعيلية الدولي عام 2018، والمدير الفني لمهرجان أسوان الدولي لسينما المرأة عامي 2020 و 2021، ورئاسة المكتب الفني لمهرجان القاهرة السينمائي الدولي في عام 2021.
على النطاق الدولي، يشغل محسن منصب المبرمج الرئيسي لمهرجان الفيلم الأوروبي في الرياض (السعودية)، ويعمل مستشارًا لمهرجان هوليوود للفيلم العربي (الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية)، كما يمثل مصر في مهرجان Film O’Clock (رومانيا). وتشمل خبراته المؤسسية عمله كمدير محتوى في شركة Arabia Pictures Entertainment في المملكة العربية السعودية. كما تمت دعوته للمشاركة في لجان تحكيم عدد من المهرجانات الدولية المرموقة، منها مهرجان كوبنهاغن للأفلام الوثائقية - CPH:DOX (الدنمارك)، ومهرجان طنجة الوطني للفيلم (المغرب)، ومعمل تورينو للأفلام (إيطاليا).
مع تولي محسن منصب المدير الفني، يواصل مهرجان الجونة السينمائي استكشاف قوة السينما في إحداث التغيير، وإثارة النقاشات العالمية من خلال سرد قصصي إبداعي.

El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) is proud to announce the appointment of Andrew Mohsen as its new Artistic Director, effective today. Mohsen, who has been a vital part of the festival’s programming team, will now lead the artistic vision for the festival as it prepares for its upcoming 9th edition, scheduled to take place in El Gouna from October 15 to 23, 2026.
The appointment marks a natural evolution for the festival, following the creative foundations laid by previous Artistic Directors. GFF would like to take this opportunity to express its appreciation to Director and producer Marianne Khoury for her remarkable contributions during her three-year tenure as Artistic Director. Her dedication and vision have been crucial in enhancing the festival's offerings and solidifying its position as a vital cultural link between Arab and international film.

"Since he joined us, Andrew has shown an incredible instinct for discovering powerful stories and a clear understanding of our festival’s identity. Mohsen’s journey with GFF has been defined by rapid growth and commitment to cinematic excellence. Since joining the festival as a Senior Programmer in 2023, his impact was immediate. In 2024, he was promoted to Head of Programming, where he successfully curated diverse and impactful selections that resonated with both local and international audiences.
"I have followed El Gouna Film Festival’s journey since its inception—first as a critic and then as a professional within the industry," said Andrew Mohsen, GFF Artistic Director. "Today, I am honored to take on the role of Artistic Director at such a pivotal stage, as the festival approaches its 10th anniversary. My primary goal is to sustain the festival's success and expand its reach, ensuring GFF remains the preeminent bridge between Arab and international cinema."
A distinguished film critic and festival programmer, Mohsen’s career in cinema began in 2015 with critical writing, where his essays and reviews quickly established him as a significant voice in the industry. He transitioned into festival programming through the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), embarking on a path that would see him in key leadership roles. He has served as the Artistic Director for the Ismailia International Film Festival (2018), the Artistic Director for Aswan International Women Film Festival (2020 & 2021), and, most notably, heading the artistic office at Cairo International Film Festival (2021).
His influence extends across the MENA region and beyond. Mohsen is the main curator for the European Film Festival in Riyadh, a consultant for the Hollywood Arab Film Festival, and the Egyptian delegate for the Film O’Clock Festival. His corporate experience includes his role as Content Manager for Arabia Pictures Entertainment in Saudi Arabia. Recognized for his discerning eye, he has been invited to serve on juries for prestigious international festivals, including CPH: DOX, the Tangier National Film Festival, and the Torino Film Lab.
With Mohsen as Artistic Director, GFF will continue to explore the transformative power of film, sparking conversations about our world through the lens of creative storytelling.
